About us

AKIPS delivers the largest-scaling, fully featured, secure on-prem, multi-vendor network-monitoring system for the enterprise market. Our fixed annual subscription applies to even the largest networks and is the only cost you'll ever pay.

Our growing team is dedicated to providing our customers with a comprehensive and ever-expanding product, with all-inclusive training and support from the developers who created AKIPS.


From three mates in a shed in suburbia, to our growing team of 20+ in our corporate offices, AKIPS has grown to provide complete network-monitoring visibility to hundreds of industry-leading customers worldwide.

In 2011, our CEO Paul Koch and CTO Nick Frampton, who had previously worked together building network-monitoring software, started to develop AKIPS in Paul's backyard shed. Their skills were complemented by our CMO Mark Birkinshaw who brought a sales and marketing focus.

Determined to achieve our goal of creating the largest-scaling network-monitoring system in the world, Paul, Nick and Mark worked tirelessly for three years, bootstrapped from their own funds.

In April 2014, we established the business as an Australian private company and by May 2014, we had developed a beta version of the software. In September 2014, our first customer signed up, impressed by AKIPS's powerful capabilities for its low cost, and in November 2014, we officially launched the product.

We chose a name which reflected our business philosophy: Always Keep It Purely Simple ('AKIPS' for short). We do this by having a single pricing and licensing model, and by doing all of the hard work so our customers don't have to.

With a few additional staff on board, the team started demonstrating AKIPS live to attendees at tradeshows, beginning in 2015 with Interop (US) and soon expanding to CiscoLive (Australia and US), Educause (US) and Gartner (worldwide).

AKIPS has now expanded to 20+ team members, won multiple awards and serves hundreds of customers worldwide, including some of the world's most recognisable companies and organisations.

Through this growth, we still remember our humble origins and business philosophies:

  • We enhance AKIPS based on customer feedback to make it the best product possible.
  • We continue to grow solely through customer-driven revenue, thereby maintaining our financial independence.
  • We continue to sell AKIPS for an affordable all-inclusive subscription.
  • We obtain new customers through word of mouth and the robust capabilities of our product - we don't have salespeople.
  • We demonstrate AKIPS at tradeshows using our own team members.
