Season's greetings from AKIPS: 2021 in review

Dear customers,

As the end of the year approaches, we would like to take the time to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

As well as the continuing global challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic, 2021 has been a particularly challenging year with the loss of our friend, husband, father and AKIPS founder, Paul Koch after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Paul’s legacy is being continued by the AKIPS team in delivering the world’s fastest, scaleable, low-cost network-monitoring software.

Despite our huge loss, we are grateful to have had many moments to celebrate. The year 2021 marked the 10-year anniversary of the inception of AKIPS – we’ve come a long way from our early days in the shed and have expanded to take all ground level tenancies at our Tanah Merah corporate offices. We continued to claim the top spot at awards ceremonies. We celebrated our victory at the Logan Business Distinction Awards (Technology and Innovation) and we were proud to be named a finalist in the 2021/2022 Australian Small Business Champion Awards (hoping to achieve success at the national award ceremony in early 2022).

We celebrated the launch of our brand new website and the revamping of our social media pages, several software releases and the implementation of our first customer survey (we really appreciate your feedback!). The team also participated in the Bridge to Brisbane walk in Paul’s honour and raised funds for local charities and ongoing cancer research efforts.

AKIPS made the decision to implement ISMS Certification ISO27001. We have engaged the services of SAI Global to assist in ensuring that world’s best practice is implemented to provide customers with the trust to leverage our software in any environment. Innovation is key to AKIPS’s success and the team is exploring new development languages to allow us to continue further enhancements to the product suite.

We also embarked on a recruitment drive to attract a new Operations Manager, Development Manager, Release Manager, Head of Marketing, Media Officer and Policy and Procedure Writer. Recruitment for Software Engineers and Product Support personnel is ongoing – please let us know if you are aware of any ideal candidates who share our passion for the network-monitoring industry.

Unfortunately our founding CTO Nick Frampton resigned in early December for personal reasons. Despite this, both myself, fellow founder Mark and the entire AKIPS team are committed to delivering a renewed approach to AKIPS that builds on the strength of Paul’s vision for the company and network-monitoring industry. We are dedicated to ensuring organisations can rely on our technology to deliver the trust, performance and visibility demanded of a network-monitoring suite.

The year 2022 will hopefully see a return to our participation in trade shows – so we can meet you all again!

We thank you all for your support this year and always, and we look forward to working with you all next year.

Best wishes,
Susan Koch, Mark Birkinshaw and the AKIPS team
